Nurturing yourself under the Aquarius new moon
As we approach the new moon in Aquarius, I’ve been deeply feeling the low energy of the waning moon phase. It’s as though the Moon is whispering to slow down, to pause, to rest. And honestly, I’ve needed that reminder. Life here in the United States (and across the world) has been incredibly chaotic. It’s been a challenge to keep moving forward amidst it all. But instead of resisting, I’m leaning into the rhythm of the moon cycle, allowing it to guide me through this time.
Aquarius, with its forward-thinking and collective-minded energy, invites us to dream of a better world, even when things feel heavy. This new moon’s energy is nudging me to remember that while Aquarius deeply cares about the collective, it also carries the knowledge of putting on your own oxygen mask first. How can we truly care for one another if we’re running on empty? This is a moment to nurture ourselves so that we can, in turn, nurture the greater whole.
For me, learning to play the frame drum with the solkattu technique has been an unexpected but profound way to navigate my emotions. There’s something about the rhythm and focus it requires that helps me ground myself and process my feelings. It’s become a way of caring for my inner world while the outer world feels uncertain.

This new moon is forming a beautiful trine with Jupiter, which may carry a glimmer of hope, growth, and expansion. Yet, it’s okay if you’re not feeling ready to set intentions or embrace big energy just yet. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do during a new moon is simply rest, reflect, and honor where you are. What is meant to grow will.
So, how are you nurturing yourself during these challenging times? Are you finding moments to care for your own needs, even as you hold space for the world around you? It’s okay if you don’t have it all figured out. The energy of new moons remind us that progress isn’t always about bold leaps forward. Sometimes it’s in the small, quiet acts of self-care that we lay the foundation for collective healing.
Take this time to check in with yourself, and know that wherever you are, it’s enough. The moon, in all their phases, teaches us that every moment has its purpose. This new moon is no exception.
